High Tide Ride Weekend

Saturday – Leaving Coventry 7am taking you on fast motorways’ to South Wales stopping for Breakfast at Monmouth, (we can also meet you here) afterwards we head for the riding centre in the Black Mountains. After getting your trusty steed for the day, we head out towards the high mountains with its fine views of the surrounding mountains with only the soaring buzzards and mountain ponies for company. We travel along ridges finally dropping down to our lunch time stop, giving you and your horse a rest. In the afternoon, we take the forestry path for several steady canters before arriving back at the stables around 4pm, to untack and wash down your horse.
Heading towards the coast, Saturday evening will be spent in our hotel with modern leisure centre, relax in the indoor pool with mood lighting, sauna, steam room, gym and Jacuzzi, late bar and free Wi-Fi available. After your 3 course evening meal, we will be joined by the owner of the next riding centre, Rob; so he can find out what sort of horse you would like to ride on Sunday.

Sunday – After your continental, Full Welsh breakfast we will travel a few minutes up the road for a full days riding (4/5 hours) on the beaches and cantering through the surf. Your first canter will be sure to take your breath away! We then travel through the sand dunes finally stopping for refreshments’ at a local pub giving you and your horse a rest, finally we will explore forest paths and trails allowing us for those last canters before heading back to the stables.
On the way home we will stop for dinner at The Riverside hotel and our host will give you the choice of many freshly prepared meals including Sunday lunch or a special surf&turf to celebrate our successful weekend. Homeward bound, to arrive back at Coventry 9pm approx.

Beach Ride Weekend Camping

6th – 8th July 2018

Friday – Leaving Coventry at 1pm from the Standard Triumph Club, we travel by mini coach using fast motorways to the dramatic Glamorgan Coast Line. Stopping for refreshments on the way.

Across the two and half  days of action-packed riding, you will get the chance to explore superb riding country. Arriving at the riding centre at 3.00pm, you are given a suitable mount. After a short journey down the lane, you will cross a shallow river, heading towards the sandy beach. Depending on the tide, you could either be riding along the shoreline, where you have the option for long canters or riding across the sand dunes, steadily climbing to the vantage point, where impressive views can be seen in all directions. Looking South lies the wide Bristol Channel, dotted by shadows of lonely ships homeward bound or heading out to the empty expanse of the Atlantic. Slumbering on the other side is the Northern shore of Somerset and Devon as it tapers west to disappear in the distant blue.Arriving at the camp site which is situated just by the riding stables.
These two and a half day rides will cover 12-14 hours in the saddle, giving the rider the opportunity to experience a variety of scenery and terrain, from river crossings, sand dunes, sandy beaches and open common-land – ideal for long canters. This is every horse lovers dream… the camp site  is situated just close by to the riding stables.
Friday after we have sorted the accomadation out  we will have a 2 hours ride to make sure you and your horse are suitable  together and on returning we will settle down to a B.B.Q  and a nice fire and later you are joined by the riding stables owner, discussing the up-coming events.
Saturday will be a full day ride stopping for refreshments at lunch time before returning to the stables  and after your  evening meal, you will go  to “The Pelican Inn” located in beautiful surroundings. Music for our evening entertainment being joined by the riding stable owners for a few drinks.

Sunday is another full days ride stopping midday for refreshments and rest the horses. Getting back to the stables with time for your last photo’s saying goodbye to your trusted mount
making our way home Sunday, we will be stopping at “The Waterside Hotel” Monmouth where food is available. We arrive back home in Coventry at 9.00pm(approx).

Saturday – Two days of pioneering across the wilder parts of the Black Mountains, abandoned by all but sheep and wild ponies, covering terrain not normally reached on one day rides. Stopping for a full Welsh breakfast & tea/coffee refills (not included in price). Free hard hats are available for the day. This stop gives you chance to ask any questions before arriving at the stables.
On arrival at the riding centre, you will be allocated your mounts. You are accompanied by friendly guides who will set the pace according to the riding ability. Half way through the ride, we stop at a local pub, The Red Lion, llanbedr crickhowell for approximately one hour giving you and your horse a rest. Food is available or packed lunch’s from home can be eaten outside. After lunch we make our way past the Grwyne Fecah, the famous Hermitage ruins, climbing up and over the ridge, coming down to Pengenffordd and The Castle, where we leave the horses over night. We then travel to our B&B accommodation.

Sunday – Breakfast available until 9.30am, travelling to meet your mount and tack up ready for the days ride. Riding out across Pen Y Gader standing at 800m with a prominence of 47m. Its distinctive peaked shape and height means it is easily confused with its sister peak of Waun Fach which we ride along Saturday. The views from Gader are by far the finest the Black Mountains has to offer.
We tackle this hill via the direct route up the Grwyne Fawr valley, riding along the Grwyne Fawr reservoir. Taking the route up the Gader ridge proceeding along this route, eventually dropping down into the Llanthony Valley, making our way towards the riding centre we started from Saturday.
Dinner will be available in Monmouth before returning back to Coventry for 9pm approx.

Saturday – Departing at 7am from Coventry for an action packed weekend. A full day canoeing down the river Wye, will see you paddle 11 miles of meandering, scenic river from Glasbury-on-Wye downstream to the Boat Inn, at Whitney-on-Wye. We hire the classic open canoes that seat 3 people. Don’t worry if you have never been in a canoe before, the experienced staff will give you a brief safety talk and instruction on canoeing as well as a general talk about the river and your route, making sure your comfortable before setting you on the water.

Enjoying a spot of lunch on the beautiful river along the way, where you will get to explore the quaint town of Hay-On-Wye, world famous for its second hand bookshops. After lunch, you will find yourself paddling a beautiful stretch of the river with stunning views of the Black Mountains and surrounding countryside, as well as getting glimpses of the local wildlife along the way. Proceeding down to Whitney bridge, the famous Whitney Toll Bridge (which today is still tax free) arriving at the Boat Inn, we stop for a drink and the canoes will be collected and you will be taken back to your hotel. The Baskerville Hall Hotel is set in 130 acres of Welsh countryside overlooking the Wye Valley on the edge of the Brecon Beacons and Black mountain National Park. The 19th Century property was the inspiration for Scottish author Conan Doyle’s fictional Baskerville Hall with the hounds buried in the grounds. The indoor heated swimming pool and sauna is a great place to relax after your busy day or just relax in the residents bar before your 3 course evening meal. Late bar and night club entrance available (over 18’s only).

Sunday – A full day horse riding on the Brecon Beacons for the day. On arrival at the riding centre, the riders will be allocated their mounts while the beginners will be given basic tuition. All groups are accompanied by friendly guides who will set the pace according to the riding ability. Half way through the ride, we stop at a local pub for approximately one hour giving you and your horse a rest. Food is available or packed lunches from home can be eaten outside. After lunch the riders will be given the chance of a few canters before arriving back at 4pm. Dinner will be available in Monmouth before returning back to Coventry for 9pm approx. Suitable for Beginners & Riders
